My Story: In the Fall of 2006, at the Clinton Global Initiative, I started an organization called "Where Will We Be?" to encourage Olympic athletes to work to raise awareness about the crisis in Darfur, Sudan. "Where Will We Be" is now "Team Darfur" - www.TeamDarfur.org.
At the 2006 Turin Olympics, Irepresented the United States as a member of the men's USA Speedskating team. After winning gold in the 500m race and silver in the 1000m, I donated the $40,000 awarded me to Right To Play, an international aid organization focused on bringing the benefits of sport and play to the most disadvantaged children in the world. I hope to build upon this success with Team Darfur and empower athletes around the world to use their celebrity to stand up for what's right.
